Best Summer Movies: Our Top Ten

Summer is a season of sunshine, adventure, and nostalgia. And what better way to experience those feelings during the winter months than by popping on a summer film? From the beach to a resort to summer camp, these movies capture the essence of summer.
Here's our list of the best summer movies of all time.
  1. Mamma Mia! (2008): Number one on the list for a reason - Mamma Mia (both one and two) are iconic pieces of film history.

  2. Blue Crush (2002): Follow surfer Anne Marie (a gorg Kate Bosworth) as she strives to conquer big waves while navigating even bigger challenges on land (there's a hot guy who likes her)!

  3. Aquamarine (2006): JoJo and Emma Roberts discover a mermaid in their beach club's swimming pool, and she teaches them about love and friendship. An all-star cast of Australians makes up the rest of the characters, including Shaun Micallef as the weatherman.

  4. Jaws (1975): If your summers have more of a spooky, a shark's-going-to-eat-you vibe, Jaws is the movie for you. Yell at the characters to get out of the water, marvel at the very old animatronic shark, and ask yourself if you'll ever go swimming again.

  5. Dirty Dancing (1987): Put on your dancing shoes and pick up that watermelon - Dirty Dancing is a timeless summer romance that will have you saying 'nobody puts Baby in a corner'!

  6. The Sandlot (1993): Join a group of young baseball enthusiasts as they embark on a quest to recover a cherished baseball from a neighbour's yard. It's a heartwarming tale of friendship and nostalgia.

  7. The Parent Trap (1998): The best movie of all time and the reason I was desperate to go to summer camp (a dream never realised). Lindsay Lohan gives the performance of a lifetime as Hallie AND Annie.

  8. Palm Springs (2022): I can't go past a groundhog day premise - and this one is a banger. Cristin Milioti and Andy Samberg fall in love while living the same day over and over again. Kinda sounds like a nightmare but it's fun! We promise!

  9. Now and Then (1995): Four friends reunite in their hometown and reminisce about the summer that changed their lives. Set in 1970 and with a fantastic soundtrack, Now and Then is the perfect nostalgic summer film.

  10. The Fast and the Furious (2000): Okay, I don't know if this movie was set in the summer, but Vin Diesel insists on wearing a tank top the whole time so we're assuming it's quite hot.
