Why aloe vera?

A centuries old medicinal plant, aloe vera (or aloe barbadensis) was known as the 'Plant of Immortality' in ancient Egypt due to its propensity to repair and nourish the skin.
We all know aloe vera is a classic sunburn remedy that immediately soothes and cools the skin, helping to calm any redness and repair damage.

But why does it work so well?

UV rays produce free radicals - atoms or molecules that cause damage to our cells, speeding up the aging process.

Aloe vera contains vitamins A, C and E, antioxidants that fight these free radicals, calming the skin and repairing damage. Aloe vera also contains hyaluronic acid, which provides intense hydration for dry skin, helping to prevent post-sunburn peeling.

While it's the first thing you should pack in your beach bag (behind SPF), aloe vera gel isn't just a summer staple - it can be used year round to heal cuts, scrapes, itchiness and infection. When applied to a wound, aloe vera helps to generate new skin cells and protects damaged cells, accelerating the healing process. In turn, production of collagen, a protein essential for skin strength and elasticity, increases.

To harness the power of aloe vera and ensure the potency of our aloe vera gel, we've minimised common fillers like green dyes, alcohols and excess water, while ensuring we included ingredients that enhanced the absorption and silky feel of our gel on the skin.
